Floating Production

KBR has established a world-class reputation for delivery of complex offshore projects throughout the world. We have applied the management skills and systems, supplier relationships and lessons-learned in delivering some of the most demanding floating production storage and offloading systems (FPSO) projects to create a reliable and cost-effective delivery system for complete semi floating production system (FPS) projects.

Semisubmersible Floating Production Systems (FPS)
KBR offers the distinctive capability of providing a full range of engineering services for all aspects of field development. The Semisubmersible based Floating Production System (FPS) is one of the most extensively used field development solutions, after FPSOs. KBR increased our capabilities for semisubmersible based production systems when we acquired GVA Consultants in 2001. Our topside engineering and subsea and riser team can now offer solutions to the full range of offshore challenges, including ultra deepwater projects.

Buoys
KBR has established a world-class reputation for delivery of complex offshore projects throughout the world. Offshore moored buoys facilitate oil and gas recovery from extended and remote step-outs. For very extended tiebacks, buoys can make development commercially and technically viable by providing power and chemical injection facilities for the subsea system and reliable telemetry control from a host platform or beach. Buoys can also be designed to assist with various reservoir management activities. Buoys can be designed for harsh and benign environments. Because they are unmanned, buoys increase safety and are economically attractive.

Floating production storage and offloading systems are floating production platforms with crude oil storage capacity, positioned using turret or spread mooring systems. Risers are used to lift hydrocarbons from the sea bed to the FPSO. Process equipment is located on the deck to treat hydrocarbons.

KBR offers core skills to deliver quality offshore solutions, including:
  • Naval architectur
  • Hydrodynamics
  • Hull structural engineering
  • Marine engineering
  • Marine 2-D & 3-D drafting
